Fun Kids Craft Projects

Here are the kid's art projects I did with my 2 yr old niece this year for Christmas gifts.

This first one is a canvas we painted for her little brother.

I started off by using my Silhouette Cameo to cut out some vinyl text and then applied it to the canvas with transfer tape.

Then I just let her have at it with a foam paint brush!

And of course we cleaned up with some Wet Ones Wipes

I let it dry, and then peeled off the vinyl letters.  There were a couple of spots where the paint got under the vinyl, but I just went over them with a white Zig Painty FX pen to fix them.

We also used her hands and foot to create a reindeer print for other family members.

Crocheting Away!

If you're a family member stop reading right now.  Yep, just click away.  No peeking at the handmade gifts I'm sharing below, ok?

And for a buffer from eyes that shouldn't see this post, I'll post this photo of my niece I took last month.  Isn't she cute?  :)  Ok, friends....scroll on down!

Ok, now onto what's been keeping me busy at night!

I've been crocheting up a storm.  I made a bunch of gift card-igans...get it? Cardigans...gift card-igans!  :)

I altered the design from this pattern I found on Ravelry so that it would be the right size for gift cards. The great thing is that I had everything on hand already and I got to dig through my button stash to finish them off.  I think I'm going to make a few more before Christmas just in case I need them at the last minute.

I also made a few scarfs for some people I love...here's one of my favorites.  Modeled by Nola the dog since she was the only one home with me to do the job and she works cheap.  ;)

What handmade projects are you making this holiday season?  Are the children in your life making any?  I'll share some that I did with my niece later this week!!

My Dog's Obsession: Angry Birds Dog Toys

Christmas came a bit early for our pets...thank you Hartz for sending us some Angry Birds dog and cat toys. To say my pets like them is an understatement!

Erin Bassett - Hertz - Angry Bird Dog Toys2
From the moment we opened the package, our dog was nuts about them.  Especially the Angry Birds Plush Piglet.  And when the sound chip goes off and it makes that well know laughing pig sound she dances around with it and growls at it.  It's hilarious to watch.

Our cat loves the Angry Birds - Birds Gone Crazy Cat Toy too!  She's batting them all around the house!

Looking for Spring?

Hhreleaseday5.001Well, Imaginisce has it!  We've just released one of the new Spring lines, Hippity Hop!

Here's a couple of spring projects I created with it.  The first one is a little bird house.

BLOG Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Bird House1

I used the "bird house" Silhouette Studio shape to die-cut my paper with my Silhouette Cameo and then dressed it up with embellishments.  And I have a tip for you if you do make one too...use a quilling tool (like the Imaginisce Petal Roller) to roll up the perch for the bird to sit on.  I tried doing it by hand first and it turned out really wonky.

BLOG Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Bird House CloseUp1

I used the bird that's on the "Nest" Snag 'em Stamp to stamp for the bird.  I just stamped him onto patterned paper, cut him out, and then I used foam adhesive to pop him up onto the house.  I drew his legs onto the actual house (which is why they are funny)!

BLOG Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Bird House CloseUp2The spring banner is on of the die-cuts from the collection.  I love it and knew I had to use it!!

Supplies: Paper and Die-Cuts - Imaginisce; Bird House Die-Cut - Silhouette; Pom-Pom Trim; Heart Pin - Heidi Grace; Butterfly Pins - Prima; Doily - Little Yellow Bicycle; Twine - May Arts

Another project I created with it is this card.

BLOG Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Day Dreaming Card

Once again I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the heart and the scalloped circle card (I just took two scalloped circles, overlapped them, and welded them together).  I added some hand stitching around the heart, wrapped twine around the "day dreaming" die-cut, and added some tiny alpha stickers.

Supplies: Patterned Paper - Imaginisce; Scallop Circle & heart die-cut - Silhouette; Twine - My Mind's Eye; Tiny Alpha Stickers - Making Memories; Ink - Quick Quotes Powder Puff

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for the 2012 Planner...it's perfect for keeping track of stuff, or you can use it as a scrapbook or daily gratitude journal! Enter to win HERE!!!
