Stamping with Gelatos

Faber-Castell Guava Gelatos + Aquarelle by Erin Bassett

You are awesome!

Sometimes you just need that reminder or want to share it with someone else so I made this little 4" x 6" piece of art so that I could stick it in our guest room. I love how it turned out and how it's almost magic how the highlighting of the flowers happens with this technique!  Here's how I created it...

I started off by using PITT® Artist Pen Black #199 as ink to stamp a flower image (Altenew: Peony Bouquet) onto a 4" x 6" piece of watercolor paper

Next I used Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil #126 to color in any areas of the flowers that I wanted shaded.

And then I activated the watercolor with water.

While that dried I mixed together about a 1/8" chunk of Guava colored Gelatos®, a pallet knife full of Gel Medium, and a small spritz of water.

I then painted it onto the shadow stamp and stamped it onto my flower.

I really love the irregularity and how the watercolor pencils pop through.

Next, I stamped on some leaves with May Green #170 PITT® Artist Pen and watercolored them in with a Kiwi Gelato®. I also used Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil #147 and #152 to color in the blue background and then activated it with water.  Lastly, I added a sentiment (Altenew: Label Love) that I had stamped and embossed with black embossing powder to it and slipped it into the fame.
