I stuffed my heart with art!

Heart Art Journal Cover3 - Erin Bassett Pin It

I actually finished my most recently finished art journal's cover way back in October.  I tend to do the covers last, after I've finished all the pages.

This is one of Donna's fabric inspiration journals.  I just cut out a piece of canvas and sewed it to the cover using a contrasting thread, and then painted over it.

I then created a collage of found papers and scrapbook papers.  Once it was dry I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the heart and some flowers which you'll see below.  {I did this before I had my Silhouette Cameo to play with!}

I sewed my heart to the cover leaving a little gap that I could stuff batting through.  After it was stuffed I sewed it up completely, added the closure button back on (I had to take it off to put the heart on), and added the word "art" with fuzzy Thickers.  It makes me happy to look at it.

And what about those flowers you ask?  Well I put them on the last enclosure in this art journal, and added a bit of lace trim to them with staples.

And not wanting to waste perfectly good collaged paper, so I added the negative to my new art journal.  Now it's set for me to do something with!

Mash Up: Imaginisce + Echo Park Paper Co.

It's always nice when my some of my favorite papercrafts manufactures work together instead of against each other.  The great people at Echo Park Paper Co. recently gave the Imaginisce Design Team some of their Dots & Stripes lines to mix up with Imaginisce's lines...and here's one of my layouts...

Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Echo Park - 5 ThingsSeriously love how well Imaginisce and Echo Park go together...it's like they were meant to!!

Here's a close-up of my journaling.
Erin Bassett - Imaginisce - Echo Park - 5 ThingsI added a bit of i-rock bling (of course)...I wanted it to be a bit darker of a pink so I colored it with my Copic marker.

Welcome Spring!

It's actually feeling a bit more like summer this week with the temps being up in the 90's here.  I'm so thankful for the sunshine and that the winds died down!

Here's a spring frame I created for using my Cricut (Paper Lace cartridge), Gypsy, and Imaginisce stuff:

Scrapbooking embarrassing moments

Remember When is having a "Everything Tim, but him" crop coming up & so the design team has been busy creating store samples with his newest products.  Here's one of the ones I made:

BLOG Erin Bassett - Tim Holtz - PJ's

I searched through my pics trying to figure out what I was going to do & came across the photo of my girlfriends & me at Inspiration Unlimited's pj night...we made matching jammies...which was a cute idea....until we actually put them on & had to walk through the casino.  -Embarrassing!!!  I'm sure we wound up on some type of what-not-to-wear website.

Here's some close-ups of the page...

I created the flower by gluing the light bulb to a circle scrap of paper...then taking a sheet of glassine paper and stamping on it with Stazon ink & this number stamp...then I crinkled it all up & tore it into circles (which I ended up tearing in half)...I then rubbed distress ink over them and used a paper towel to remove the excess (the ink will only color the torn or wrinkled areas).  I then just bunched up each "petal" and adhered it around the light bulb with my cordless hot glue gun.

I also glued the metal wings on so that they formed leaves for my flower....cute if I do say so myself.  ;)

Some other design note...I used my Cricut to cut out the brown background shape, my Distrezz-It-All to rough up my photo, my i-rock to add that adorable metal heart in the title (that's heart is Imaginisce too!), and of course my sewing machine for the stitches around the page.
