Abide #OneLittleWord 2016 #olw

After a whirlwind 2015 I am so ready for 2016 and all it has in store for me and my family! So with that in mind, my #OneLittleWord for 2016 is "abide"...which means:

Full Definition of abide...

transitive verb

1: to wait for: await

2: a- to endure without yielding: withstand

     b- to bear patiently: tolerate

 3: to accept without objection

intransitive verb

1: to remain stable or fixed in a state

2: to continue in a place: sojourn

For me, the word "abide" will be a reminder to persevere as I trust in the Lord...I'll be explaining all about how I came upon this word and my verse for the year (along with helpful ways you can incorporate both in your quiet time with the Lord & in your art journal) in the workshop I'm doing for the online event Truth Scrap. I hope you join myself and 5 other awesome artist as we share with you techniques and tips on how to link together your faith and your art, it's going to be such a fun day!  -I'm totally staying in my PJs all day for it and just have a chill time with the Lord, art, and all of you joining us! I'm so excited!

Did you choose a word or a verse for 2016?  Share it if you did so you can inspire others!

Happy New Year! Time for a new Art Journal!

Happy New Year friends!

Daily Art Journal - 2014

2014! Can you believe it!!! It seems like yesterday was Y2K, LOL, and yet here we are. Well, with the start of the new year comes about a million different crafty, scrapbooking, or mixed media ideas and classes and I've heard a lot of great things about The Documented Life project, and I love all the things I've seen people do so far, but the "problem" with it for me is that I already scrapbook Project Life and I keep my calendars and to-do lists digitally so, for me, it doesn't really have a place.  BUT, like any great idea, I've altered it! I decided to grab a big 8.5" x 11"ish calendar book instead of a moleskin and use that. And instead of recording my to-do's, schedule, and appointments I'm recording my gratitude, blessings, and notes from my quiet time with God.

I made a quick video on how it will work...

Here's what I have finished so far...

Daily Art Journal - Gratitude1

In the monthly calendar section I'll record my daily gratitude.

And add some doodling and artsy stuff as the month goes on.  Here's just a start of what I have...

Each month has a "notes" section that I'll journal something in.  Here's this month's...

My One Little Word for this year is "joy"...joy in the good and the bad through my relationship with Jesus.

I will post photos of how this project/my life is going through out the year.  I think I'll label them "soul journal" so you can click over ---------> there in the categories and find it if you need to.

My One Little Word for 2010: Grow

Happy New Year!!

For the past handful of years now I've been inspired by Ali Edwards to choose a word for the new year...this year I picked "grow".

 EPB-Mixed_Media - Grow

This word spoke to me because in 2010 I will be going outside of my box and doing things that are challenging to me.  I won't go into detail on what they are now, but I'm excited at the possibilities and scared at them too.  I know the Lord is with me though and that He will teach me through the circumstances I'll be in.

I created this canvas to remind me of my word.  Here's some close ups of it:

EPB-Mixed_Media - Grow-CloseUp1

I used vinyl to cut out "grow" with my Cricut Expression and used the vinyl letters as a mask.  I added some on Tim's Crackle Paint to the letters after I removed the mask.

Supplies: 12" x 16" canvas; Dictionary pages; Golden Gel Medium; Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint; Delta Acrylic Paint; Ranger (Tim Holtz) Distress Crackle Paint and Distress Ink; Cricut Expression - Platin Schoolbook Cartridge; vinyl

One little word

For the new year, Ali Edwards encouraged us to find a word for this year that we could hold onto and be inspired by.  I choose the word {live}.  I'm tired of being bogged down with depression over our infertility and the daily chores of life...so I'm choosing to live!  Thanks Ali!
