Making a Banner for a Garland Exchange

My friend Emmy is raising funds to adopt and it's been really fun to have crafting be apart of it! I participated in their hoop exchange, and now am doing her garland exchange.

I had to try my banner on my mantel before I mailed it off. ;)

...which lead me to bust out my ScanNCutâ„¢ so I could cut out letters out of fabric. (It worked great for that by the way!)

...which lead me to sewing fabric which I haven't done in ages.  I missed it! I need to do more of it!

Also, on a side-note, I find it weird that I had to go to 3 stores in order to find the pom-pom trim to add to this. What's up with that? Thank Goodness that my local scrapbook store had some since JoAnn's and Michael's didn't!

Disclosure: I am a paid consultant for Brother International Corporation and have received a ScanNCut from Brother to evaluate. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own and based on my use of the product.

Scrapbooking: Pieces of Christmas

I'm loving that it's been a bit cooler this week here in SoCal. It reminds me that the holidays are sneaking up!!  -I'm so ready for them!

Erin Bassett - Teresa Collins - Pieces of Christmas

Here's a scrapbook layout that I made with Teresa Collins Designs new Christmas line: Christmas Home.  It was an assignment for Remember When where I only got some scraps to work with which is kind of fun!

I used my Selphy photo printer to print out the photos...I love that with a touch of a button I can get all my pics the perfect size with out having to PhotoShop them.

I fussy-cut out the holly berries and leaves and then added some Glossy Accents to the top of the berries.

And then I added a doily.  {I know you're totally shocked that I would do that, since I seem to add them to just about everything lately!}

And here's my journaling tag.  I just cut the cardstock down to the size I wanted, rounded the corners, stamped on some lines, and then wrote away with one of my favorite journaling pens, my ZIG Millennium .  Having my own handwriting on a layout (especially a Christmas one) seems to give me warm-fuzzies!

Are you ready for the holidays???  I really need to start making a list for what I want to create as gifts. Got any ideas?

Using up scraps on a canvas

I saw this quote on Good Reads and knew I wanted to use it on some project sooner or later.  So when I got a design team assignment where I need to use a random assortment of Wendy's Art Parts and the leftover scraps from this project, I remembered the quote...and this is what I came up with:

Originally I was going to leave the canvas white and use the white letters on it like all those art pieces on Pinterest...but then I decided that if the house was going to be in color then then rest of the piece probably should be too....but that I'd leave it simple and clean instead of getting too artsy with it.

I adhered the scrap paper onto the Art Part pieces with Mod Podge and then whitewashed them to tone them down a bit.  Once all the individual pieces were dry I just glued them together and then added a few embellishments like the punched hearts (stapled together with the Tiny Attacher) and the resin keyhole.

A Simple Scrapbook Page

Sometimes in scrapbooks I just want to capture a list...like what my almost 2yr old niece is really loving these days.

BLOG Erin Bassett - SS - Temp 1 Sept - Echo Park

I kept the page simple by starting of with one of the Septemeber Simple Scrapper sketches (say THAT 10 times, fast!!) and then just tweeked it a bit.  I used Echo Park's Victoria Garden line of papers and embellishments and some more of those cute Imaginisce heart i-rock studs
