Is the winter blahs getting you down? Make way for springtime with this cute piece of home décor.  It could easily take the place of a wreath on your front door or be used inside or outside your home.

Supplies:

• ScanNCutDX Machine and Accessories
• Galvanized Tin Pail
• Various Colors of Craft Vinyl Remnants (6 - 2” x 2”; 1 – 8”x4”)
• Grid Transfer Paper
• Alcohol Wipe
• FREE Cut File

Instructions:

1. Download the free cut file and load it onto your ScanNCut.

2. Place your pieces of vinyl onto the Standard Cutting Mat and load it into the machine.

3. Press the “scan” button then “start” to scan in the mat.

4. Drag each of the letters onto the correct piece of vinyl. Press “ok”

5. Select “cut.” Change the settings by clicking on the wrench tool. Turn “on” the Half Cut. Press “ok.”

6. Press “start” to begin cutting.

7. Unload the mat and remove all the vinyl pieces.

8. Weed the vinyl by removing the negative vinyl pieces from each piece of vinyl.

Don’t forget the insides of letters and loops.

9. Trim a piece of Grid Transfer Paper to approximately 8”x4” and remove the paper backing. Place the Grid Transfer Paper on top of “happy,” use the spatula to rub over

10. Slowly peel up the Grid Transfer Paper which lifts the vinyl off of the backing paper.

11. Clean the front of the tin pail with an alcohol wipe. Place the vinyl design onto the front of it.

12. Use a spatula to rub over the letters again and then slowly peel up the Grid Transfer Paper.

13. Arrange the letters for “spring” onto the Grid Transfer Paper. Use the lines to place the letters exactly where you want them. Use the spatula to rub over the vinyl.

14. Slowly peel up the Grid Transfer Paper which lifts the vinyl off of the backing papers.

15. Place “spring” below “happy.” Use the spatula to rub over the vinyl and then slowly peel it off.

16. Fill your tin pail with flowers.

N0te: Now I used my new ScanNCutDX machine to create all of these, but if you have an older model of ScanNCut you can use the cut files I created on that.

Instructions:
1. Download all the free patterns. To use them, either save them onto a USB drive and insert it into your ScanNCutDX or open them in CanvasWorkspace and use the ScanNCut Transfer feature to send it to your computer wirelessly.

2. Cut out the “party stars and circles” patterns from the free downloads by placing the gold cardstock onto the standard mat and insert it into the machine.
Load the “party stars and circles” pattern onto your ScanNCut following the instructions in step 1, then click on “ok” and then select “cut” and “start.”

3. Cut out the “party circles” patterns from the free downloads by placing the gold cardstock onto the standard mat and insert it into the machine.
Load the “party circles” pattern onto your ScanNCut, following the instructions in step 1, then click on “ok” and then select “cut” and “start.” Repeat using 1 silver and 1 black piece of cardstock.

4. Assemble the ready-made tissue paper fans and then adhere a large gold star to the center of each fan.

5. At your sewing machine, sew down the center of one of the circles, sew off the edge a few stitches and then threw another circle…repeating until you have a chain of circles.

6. Cut out the “party foil centerpiece” pattern from the free downloads by placing the black cardstock onto the standard mat and insert it into the machine.
Load the pattern onto your ScanNCutDX and then select the scroll pattern and delete it.

Then cut out the shape by clicking on “ok” and then select “cut” and “start.” Do not remove the cardstock once cut.

7. Open up the Foil Transfer Starter Kit. Place the glue pen into the holder and insert it into the machine.
Select “Foil1 (Glue),” follow the instructions on the screen and press start. Remove the glue pen and re-cap it.
Allow to dry.

Select “Foil2 (Foil).” Follow the instructions on the screen. Place the pressing tool into the holder and insert it into the machine. Place the gold foil sheet, gold side up on top of the dried glue.

Place the blue protective sheet over the foil and use Washi tape to hold it in place. Press start.
Once it’s finished unload the mat and remove the foil and protection sheet and brush off any gold debris.

8. Adhere it to the centerpiece.

9. On your ScanNCutDX click on “patterns” then choose the words category.

Click on the word “party,” resize it to 3.5” wide and 1.04” high, and add it to the mat.

Place a sheet of silver cardstock on the standard mat and cut it out.
10. Print the “party hashtag” printable on white cardstock.

Place the printed paper onto the low tack mat and insert it into the machine.

Load the “party hashtag” pattern onto your ScanNCutDX. Press the “scan” icon and “start” to scan in the page.

Click on “edit” then use the nudge arrows to line up the pattern with the scanned image.

Use the Zoom icon to help enlarge the image in order to see it better.

When it’s lined up, press “ok”
11. Select “Foil1 (Glue),” follow the instructions on the screen and press start. When finished, remove the glue pen and re-cap it.

Allow to dry completely.
Select “Foil2 (Foil).” Follow the instructions on the screen. Place the pressing tool into the holder and insert it into the machine. Place the gold foil sheet, gold side up on top of the dried glue.

Place the blue protective sheet over the foil and use Washi tape to hold it in place. Press start.

Once it’s finished unload the mat and remove the foil and protection sheet and brush off any gold debris.

12. Trim down the party hashtag sign to 4” x 6” and insert it into the frame.

Enjoy the party!

Tis the season for fun and whimsy! These antlers are fun to make since you can dress them up and embellish them any way you want. I can just picture someone making personalized ones for their whole family and then taking family photos for holiday cards…too cute!

1. On your tablet in a drawing app, create a design and save it as a .jpg
   
   2. Open ScanNCut Canvas Workspace (https://canvasworkspace.brother.com) click on the main menu and select “project,”
   then click on the “image tracing” icon.
   
    Select “normal tracing.”
   

Choose the .jpg file you created and click “ok”
Make any adjustments if needed.
To save it, or transfer it to your ScanNCut machine: click the main menu button, select “download” and then choose “ScanNCut Transfer,” then “close.”




3. On a Standard Cutting Mat, adhere your felt using the brayer.
Place the mat between the guides and on your ScanNCut click the “load” button.


4. Click on “retrieve data” then choose the WiFi icon.


5. Make any adjustments, such as deleting the patterns you are not cutting at this time.
You will need to cut the 4 antlers out using the dark brown felt, the large ear pieces on the light brown felt, the smaller ear pieces on white felt, the bow and holly berries on red felt and the holly leaves on green felt.
To delete patterns: click on “edit” and select the pattern you want to delete. Next click on the trash icon to delete it.


6. To make sure your patterns are arranged properly to cut on the felt click the “scan mat” icon, then “start.”


and then click on “edit” then “Object edit” to make any necessary changes.

To resize: click the “resize” icon and then click the + or – buttons.To rotate: click the “rotate” icon and then choose how you want to rotate it.

When finished editing, click “ok” in all the screens and then select “cut.” Make sure the auto-blade is inserted into the blade holder.


7. When finished cutting, unload the mat and remove the felt pieces.


8. To get the pattern for the bow: in CanvasWorkspace, click on the “filter” icon, type in “bow” and select “all categories.” Click on the bow project and then click on the “edit in CanvasWorkspace” icon.

9. Select the butterfly type pattern and delete it.


Select the bow, left click and choose “ungroup” and then click on the bow and drag it to a new location on the mat. The perforation marks should be left behind. Select all of them and delete them.

Send the bow pattern to the ScanNCut using ScanNCut Transfer.


10. Cut out the bow.


11. To get the pattern for the holly berries: go into “patterns” on the ScanNCut machine.

Choose the layered patterns icon, then choose the holiday icon.


Next choose the holly berries,

change the size if desired,

then select the “d” pattern and click “set” to add it to the mat. Next select “add” and select “e” and click “set to add it to the mat.

Send the patterns to the ScanNCut using ScanNCut Transfer.
Apply red felt to the cutting mat, insert it into the machine and cut the berries out.


12. To get the pattern for the leaves: delete the berries and then choose “add” and select each of the leaves, “set” them on the mat, and then cut them out.

To assemble the antler headband:
13. For the antlers…
Add embroidery stitches to desired pieces of felt.


Using hot glue, glue the edges of each of the front and back antlers together leaving a large area open.
Stuff the inside of each antler and then continue to glue all the edges closed except for the bottom edge
Apply hot glue to the inside bottom edge and then adhere it to the headband. Repeat for other antler.

14. For the ears…
Apply a small amount of hot glue to the backside of the white ear and adhere it to the center of the light brown ear.
Apply hot glue to the left bottom corner of the ear and fold it to the bottom middle of the ear. Apply hot glue to the right bottom corner of the ear and fold it to the bottom middle of the ear.
Apply hot glue to the bottom edge of the ear, fold it backwards and adhere it to the headband, repeat steps for the other ear.

15. For the bow…
Apply hot glue to each of the side tabs and then fold them in so the tabs adhere in the center.
Wrap the long tab around the center of the bow and use hot glue to adhere it in place. Adhere it to the headband.


16. For the leaves…
Apply a small amount of hot glue to the tip along the center cut overlap the piece on the other side of the cut line. Repeat for the remaining leaves. Embroider leaves if desired and adhere them to the headband.


17. Use hot glue to add any other embellishments to the headband.

Fall is a great time to refresh your home décor! While this sign may look like it took a lot of work, thanks to the ScanNCutDX Roll Feeder it was a piece of cake!

Here's a video of how I made it, and the written instructions are below.

• ScanNCutDX Machine and Accessories
• CanvasWorkspace for PCs (Mac version coming soon!)
• 6 foot x 10 inch board
• Primer: Valspar All-Weather Exterior Primer Sealer
• Paint Valspar SeasonPLUS Exterior Paint : in Fiesta.
• Sandpaper
• Paint brushes or rollers
• 1 Black Brother Vinyl Roll (6 feet)
• Yellow and Red vinyl sheets
• Brother Grid Transfer Tape
• FREE “Thankful” and “leaves” patterns

I had some help preparing this project. 😁

Instructions:
1. Sand the board to remove any splinters or rough edges.

2. Paint a coat of primer over the entire board and allow to dry. I used an exterior primer to protect from the elements.

3. Paint board with orange paint and allow to dry before repeating the process until you reach full coverage. I used an exterior latex paint to protect from the elements when displayed outdoors.

4. On the ScanNCutDX machine, click on “roll feeder,” then follow the instructions in step 1 to set it up with the black roll of vinyl installed.

Load “Thankful” onto your ScanNCutDX by clicking on step 2. Click where you are getting the pattern files from. (Note: I saved them to my computer and used ScanNCut CanvasWorkspace PC Edition to send them wirelessly over the internet to my machine. You can also save it to a USB drive and insert it into the machine or plug you computer directly into your machine.)

6. Select “cut” and then “start” to have the design cut out. (Tip: if you haven’t cut this material in your machine yet you will want to perform a test cut to make sure it cuts correctly.)
Unload the project when it’s finished cutting.
Remove the roll feeder.

7. Remove the negative areas of vinyl from the pattern and trim off any excess vinyl.

8. Begin to peel back the backing from the grid transfer tape about two inches and line it up with the top of the vinyl pattern. While holding the project firmly with the left hand smooth out the layers of grid transfer tape and vinyl pattern to adhere the transfer tape to the top of the vinyl.


9. Burnish the grid transfer tape onto the vinyl using your nails or a spatula.

10. Carefully peel back the transfer tape and vinyl.

11. Line up the design so that it’s centered on the board and burnish it again so the vinyl sticks to the board.

12. Carefully and slowly lift off the transfer tape.

13. To cut out the leaves, load the pattern onto your ScanNCutDX or use the built in leaves in the “pattern” section. If you choose to use the downloaded ones, click on “retrieve data” choose where you’re retrieving it from and then select the leaves pattern.

14. Place a sheet of vinyl onto the mat and load it into the machine.

15. Select “ok” until you get to the cut screen and then select “cut.”
Next, click on the wrench icon to adjust your settings. Scroll down to Half Cut and select “on” then click “ok” and “start.”

Using a remnant piece of vinyl? Scan in the vinyl remnant on your mat by clicking on the “scan” icon. Once it’s finished scanning you will see the remnant on the screen and can move the leaves onto the remaining vinyl to be cut out.

16. Once the leaves are finished cutting, unload the mat and then weed out the negative vinyl.

17. Apply the leaves like stickers to the board.

I love the way this project turned out. It's such a fun addition to my art studio and a great way to use up any scraps you have laying around.

• ScanNCut Rhinestone Kit
• 89 10mm Turquoise Rhinestones

• Photo Frame (I picked mine up at Ikea)
• 8 Patterns of Fabric (cut to 2 ½” x 8”)
• 1 Piece of Chipboard to fit inside the frame
• 1 Piece of Batting (cut to fit around the chipboard)
• Thread
• Decorative Pins
• Coordinating Embroidery Thread
• Tape or Glue
• Pins or Clips
• (optional) Piece of Cardstock to fit inside the frame

Instructions:

(Note: I used pieces of fabric that were longer than 8" and then trimmed them down, but the correct measurements are listed in the instructions for my 4 ½” x 6 ½” frame...if you use a different size frame adjust your fabric sizes accordingly.)

1. Select two strips of fabric and pin or clip the right sides together. Sew a ¼” seam down one of the long edges. Open and press the seams down with an iron.
   
2. Select another strip of fabric and pin or clip it the right side to the right side of one of the previously sewn strips.
3. You should now have three strips of fabric sewn together. Trim the two edge strips in half. 
   And then trim your joined fabric to  4" x 4"
4. Decide which fabric pieces to use for each of the edges and then continue to sew on strips around the edges of the three strip piece using the same method of pinning the right sides together, sewing the edge with a ¼” seam and then pressing the seam open.
5. Prepare a piece of fabric for the rhinestone by cutting it to about 6 ½” x  2½”. Fray the edges if desired. Set aside. 
6. Download the free rhinestone cut file and open it up on your ScanNCut machine.
   
7. Open the Rhinestone Kit and remove the black fuzzy template material. Apply that to the cutting mat, fuzzy side up.
8. Cut out the “create” rhinestone design. Be sure to do a test cut if you are not sure what blade setting to use.
9. Remove the material from the mat, trim down if necessary, and separate just the corner of material from the backing. While firmly holding down the backing, quickly pull off the material. If any circle remain in the fabric, poke them out.
   
10. Place the Rhinestone Kit lid down onto your work surface and place the reusable backing board, shiny side up into the lid. Adhere the template you just created onto the backing board.
11. Sprinkle the rhinestones onto the template.
12. Use the brush in a circular pattern over the rhinestones to move them into position.
13. Cut a piece of transfer tape to size, remove the backing, and press it firmly onto the rhinestones.
    
14. Lift the transfer tape up to remove the rhinestones from the template.
    
    
15. Place the transfer tape with rhinestones on top of the previously prepared fabric piece.
16. Following the package instructions, iron on the rhinestones and allow it to cool.
17. Carefully peel up the transfer tape.
18. Place the rhinestone fabric piece into the center of your quilted piece. Using the embroidery thread, hand stitch around the rhinestone fabric to secure it in place.
    
19. Place the fabric piece face down on your worksurface. Center the batting on top of it. Center the chipboard on top of that. Fold the fabric and batting edges around the chipboard and tape or glue into place. If desired, cover the backside of the piece with a piece of cardstock.
    
20. Slide the piece into the frame.
21. Embellish with decorate stick pins.
